What is advertising in a trade magazine?
Advertising in a trade magazine means your brand appears in the medium that professionals from one sector read for their work. With the title, you choose the audience. Targeting by age or interest is unnecessary: the reader has selected themselves by subscribing to the trade magazine.
Louwers Mediagroep has 45+ trade magazines for construction, architecture, industry and production, infrastructure and outdoor and business and hospitality. Each title defines the market: the Netherlands, Flanders, Wallonia, or the Netherlands and Belgium together.
Each trade magazine includes an online platform with daily trade news, a newsletter and social media channels. You can combine a print advertisement with a partner article or banner online, targeting the same readers. Rates, formats and publication dates are listed per title in the media kit 2027.
Which companies benefit from a trade magazine?
A trade magazine suits companies that sell to a defined professional group: manufacturers, suppliers and service providers in construction and industry. Four situations where a trade magazine works well.
You sell to specifiers
Architects, specification writers and consultants determine which product is included in the specification long before purchasing. They read titles like ArchiComm Nederland and Gevelbouw to stay updated in their field.
You launch a new product
A new system requires explanation: how it works, where it has been applied and what it delivers. A company feature provides space for this, and an advertisement brings your brand back in future issues.
You want to enter a new region
Many titles have a Dutch and a Flemish edition, and for Wallonia, there are French-language titles. This way, you reach the same professional group across borders, in the reader's language. See the trade magazines in Flanders.
You are preparing for a trade fair or season
Each trade magazine has a publication calendar with themed issues. You choose the issue that appears before your trade fair, launch or construction season, so the reader sees you when they are orienting themselves.
Which trade magazine do your customers read?
First choose the sector, then the title. Below are three titles per sector. You can find them all on the sector page.
What can you place in a trade magazine?
From a single advertisement to a spot in the yearbook. The form that fits depends on what you want to convey: a recurring brand or a product that needs explanation. All forms are detailed on the page about print.

A quarter, half or full page, or a spread over two pages, in the issue and at the position you choose.
Company feature
An editorially crafted article about a project or product. Our trade editorial team writes it, or you supply text and images yourself.
Cover position
Your project on the cover or in the cover story of a themed issue, the place where every reader starts.
Insert or bound-in
Your brochure or product card as a separate attachment in the trade magazine, for all subscribers or a selection.
Themed special and yearbook
Partner of a themed issue about your field, or a spot in a keeper title like the GWW-Yearbook.
Online as well
A partner article, banner or newsletter mention on the platform of the same title.

How do print and online work together?
The trade magazine is on the desk or in the construction trailer and is read during working hours. The platform and the newsletter reach the same reader in between, at the office or on the go. A campaign that uses both appears more often to the same person.
Online every placement is measurable: you see impressions, clicks and opens, and a partner article remains discoverable in Google after the campaign. See how that looks on the platform of Stedenbouw.
How does a placement work?
From first enquiry to voucher copy. You don't need to be able to create an advertisement yourself, and we respond to your enquiry within one working day.
- 1Step 1
Choose your goal and title
You tell us what you want to achieve, with whom and when. We match the suitable titles and their publication calendar.
- 2Step 2
Fix the issue and format
You receive a proposal with title, issue, format, position and deadline. Cover positions and themed issues fill up first, so reserve in time.
- 3Step 3
Supply it or have it made
You upload a print-ready PDF via the upload link you receive by email, according to the specifications. Or our editorial team provides text, photos and layout. You approve the proof.
- 4Step 4
Publish and review
After publication, you receive a voucher copy and an overview of circulation and distribution. If the placement is also online, you receive the figures per placement.
Trade magazine, social ads or Google Ads: what suits your goal?
All three reach business decision-makers, but each in a different way.
Trade magazine
How you choose the target audience. With the title: the reader works in the sector and region of the trade magazine
Where your message appears. Among independent editorial articles and project reports
How long you are visible. The trade magazine lies on the desk for weeks; a partner article online remains discoverable
What you measure. Circulation and distribution per issue; online impressions, clicks and opens
Strengths. Awareness and explanation to a fixed professional group, even to those not yet searching
Social ads
How you choose the target audience. By role, sector and interests that the platform records about its users
Where your message appears. In a timeline, among posts from colleagues and friends
How long you are visible. As long as the budget runs; a post quickly disappears in the timeline
What you measure. Impressions, clicks and conversions in the advertising platform
Strengths. Quick testing and repeated reach with one profile
Google Ads
How you choose the target audience. By the keyword someone types in at that moment
Where your message appears. Among the search results
How long you are visible. As long as you pay per click
What you measure. Impressions, clicks and conversions per keyword
Strengths. Capturing demand from those already searching
The channels do not exclude each other. A trade magazine ensures that the professional group knows you before they start searching; search ads capture the demand when it arises. If you want to know how discoverable you are now, request the free SEO & GEO check.

Questions about advertising in trade magazines
Is your question not listed? Call us or ask it via the contact form.
What does an advertisement in a trade magazine cost?
That depends on the title, the format, the position and the number of placements. Each trade magazine has its own rate. All rates, formats and publication dates are in the media kit 2027, which you can request for free.
Which advertisement formats are available?
In print, these are a quarter page portrait, a half page landscape or portrait, a full page and a spread over two pages. The type area is 23 by 29.7 cm. A full page and a spread require a 3 mm bleed all around. All sizes are listed in the specifications.
How far in advance should I book?
Book as soon as you know which issue you want to be in. Cover positions and themed issues fill up faster than regular pages. A company feature requires production time, so plan well in advance. The publication calendar per title is in the media kit.
Do I have to create the advertisement myself?
You may, but it is not necessary. If you supply it yourself, you upload a print-ready PDF via the upload link you receive by email. If you do not have material, our editorial team will provide text, photography and layout based on a conversation. In both cases, you approve the proof before the trade magazine goes to print.
Is a company feature recognisable as a paid placement?
Yes. A company feature is marked according to the trade magazine's rules. The text is informative and written in the third person, without slogans or product names in the headlines. If you supply it yourself, a maximum of 350 words applies for a full page and 500 for a spread.
Can I advertise in the Netherlands and Belgium at the same time?
Yes. Many titles have a Dutch and a Flemish edition, and for Wallonia, there are French-language titles. You combine them in one plan, so the same professional group sees you in both countries.
How do I know if my advertisement has appeared?
After publication, you receive a voucher copy of the issue, with an overview of circulation and distribution. If your placement is also online, you will receive the link and the figures about the duration.
Can I view an issue of the trade magazine first?
Yes. Request a free sample issue of one of the 45+ titles. You will receive the printed trade magazine by post, without subscription or obligations.
